Unguja Lodge is located in the village of Kizimkazi Mkunguni on the southwest coast of Zanzibar.
This high specification Dutch-owned lodge is tucked away amidst lush tropical folliage on rocks above a pleasant little beach. Small but elegant public areas are centred around a lovely pool, whilst the eleven guest suites are large double height thatched bandas, most overlooking the ocean and those in the second row being compensated for with a plunge pool.
A real plus point is that owner Elies and her family host the lodge, ensuring a slick and very personable atmosphere.
Activities include village walks, sailing trips and picnics on offshore islands, plus some excellent diving on less-visited reefs to the south.
