Matemwe Beach Village is located in the village of Matemwe on the northeast coast of Zanzibar.
Set on an unusually large plot at the north end of the village, this place has long been one of the best mid-priced guesthouses and is surely the best dive base on the island. From here it is a short boat ride out to the prime dive sites of Mnemba Atoll.
SA/Oz couple, the lovely Gail and Gary, have really taken the place forward from humble beginnings. Stylish public areas lead through to one of the nicest pool areas on the island.
There are 20 or so rooms come in three different specifications, with the rear standard rooms probably representing the best value.
Matemwe Beach Village is one the best options in its price range on Zanzibar and is surely the best if you are intending to dive. A nice mix of guests too.
